The following cases are examples of web data scrapings from different types of web sites. All the data in the following examples have been modified from the original.
We can scrape stock prices listed online into an easy to use and easy to read spreadsheet. These daily records make it possible to analyze the stock market with ease and efficiency.
Car prices were searched by make, model and zip code. A list of nearby dealers were presented. Detailed information of cars among these dealers were mined into Microsoft Excel.
Detailed information regarding professional licenses, such as plumbing, is available on government websites. Information, such as name, license number, issued date, expiration date and license status were searched and mined by selecting license type and filling in a part of a last name.
An employee directory is available on some organizations' websites. Name, email, office location and phone extension were scraped into Microsoft Excel by filling in the query form with the first letter of first names.
